The Position: Merchandise Specialist I - Bike
Located in Salt Lake City, UT Backcountry.com has an amazing opportunity for an internal candidate to put their distribution center, customer service and bike skills to use aiding our Returns/Warranty department with processing bikes and bike parts for downgrades and potential resale. The ideal candidate will have a current knowledge of road and mountain bike and bike parts, a strong ability with PC computers including Excel, a strong ability to use the internet, and previous customer service skills.
Responsibilities:
- Computer usage, including maintaining MS Excel spreadsheets, Interchange and internet
- Read and audit labels
- Analyze inventory and problems and initiate resolutions
- Compile and send end of day reports
- Communicate effectively via MS Outlook email
- Use hand held to scan and process inventory
- Identify, count and sort packages and inventory with a high level of accuracy
- Train new employees
- Use internal reporting program, Jira, to log problems
- Track data using MS Excel
- Participate in team meetings, receive instructions and provide feedback as appropriate
- Understand and differentiate between shipping methods and sort packages accordingly
- Operate a pallet jack
- Use automated packaging equipment
- Maintain a clean work space
- Interact with customers via email
- Assign work to employees in the absence of a supervisor
- Work with multiple departments to resolve issues
Requirements:
- Verbal and written comprehension of the English language
- Knowledge of current bicycle products
- Basic math skills
- Computer skills including ability with the internet, MS Excel, and e-mail; ability to work with hand held computer device
Preferences:
- High School Equivalency
- Experience operating power industrial equipment (for example, standing order picker or forklift)
- Six months of experience in distribution center or six months in a customer service environment
