The Position: Product Color, Trim and Detail Specialist

Supervision Received: Reports to Product Designers. Consultation with Product Director, Product Line Manager and larger Product Team, including Vietnam

Job Location: Osprey Packs Design Center in Mill Valley, California
Job Summary: This position’s primary objective is to develop seasonal product color ways, graphics concepts and selection of trim and hardware and to see those selections through the entire process to production
Principal Duties and Responsibilities in priority:
Color – from concept to final product
· Analysis of entire product line color ways
· Trending research and definition of future product line color ways.
· Execute a concise color palette and color blocking seasonally
· In-house color presentations
· Create color way spec sheets
· Develop coherent and accurate system for displaying color palettes to remote groups
· Work to gather input and reach consensus on color ways amongst Osprey sales people
· Work with factories to ensure color specs are met
· Follow color process from initial selection, to lab dips in Asia and then through to production
· Create well organized library and catalog system for all color materials, lab dips, etc
· Create a full-color visual line list, for use during seasonal development.
Product Graphics
· Conceptualization of graphic treatment on any part of a product (screen printing applications, patterning, branding, hardware parts, etc.)
· In-house graphics presentations
· Specifying graphic location on patterns – create graphic spec sheets
· Follow through with factories to ensure graphics meet goals and specifications
Fabrics/Trim/Hardware Selection
· Become familiar with the extensive line of fabrics/trim and hardware that are available
· Work with design team to select these materials and source them domestically and internationally
· Coordinate with the Vietnam office on R&D and testing of fabrics and raw materials and organize testing data
· Meet with raw materials suppliers to learn their product lines and to develop new products
· Maintain well organized fabric library
· Learn fiber characteristics, fabric construction, and relationship to end-use performance
Packaging
· manage or assist with the product packaging
· Determine seasonal packaging needs with design, production, marketing and sales and how it is best executed
· Help manage actual execution with graphic designer as needed
Product Design and Development
· Assist with product design and development as needed
Position Requirements and Goals
· Ensure color and graphic consistency within product series and throughout the entire product line
· Work with the design and marketing teams in the US to ensure consistency in goals and aesthetics
· Work (often at odd hours) with the development and production teams in Vietnam to ensure the proper specifications and applications are met
· Possible travel to raw materials trade shows
· Travel between Mill Valley, Cortez, and Vietnam as needed
· Clear communication domestically and with foreign factories
· Work effectively with domestic and international colleagues and clients
Recommended Education and Experience
· Minimum 3 years of experience working in similar
