The Position: Brand Manager
Jetboil, Inc., part of the Johnson Outdoors family of brands, is seeking a candidate with strong outdoor market understanding and technical capability for its Brand Manager position. Jetboil is the premier brand in portable cooking technologies enabling consumers to have hot food and drink on the go. Role Scope and Responsibilities:
§ Direct and execute product line strategies for Jetboil products and be the internal voice of the customer.
§ Identify new product opportunities and shepherd them from concept to launch
§ Monitor market share, user feedback, and competitive offerings, provide input on pricing, and coordinate positioning and functional changes through the product’s life cycle.
§ Responsible for establishing quality standards based on consumer expectations.
§ Manage early consumer testing programs for new product during the development stage
§ Develop and execute marketing strategies including catalog, packaging, web, trade shows, advertising, sales collateral, merchandising materials, etc.
Essential Job Functions:
§ Create long range and near term product /launch business plans to drive sales and market share growth
§ Develop and implement a product positioning strategy vis-à-vis other Jetboil products and competitive offerings.
§ Effectively work and communicate in a cross functional fashion to manage product development programs
§ Monitor product sales and functional performance through the lifecycle, proposing changes in functionality, pricing, packaging, and positioning as necessary.
§ Work with end-users, market data, product development, and production to identify, quantify, and prioritize new product ideas and initiatives for core outdoor and adjacent markets. Present actionable data to the product development team for approval and scheduling of selected initiatives.
§ Compile, analyze and evaluate end user feedback from a variety of sources including on-line reviews/ratings, surveys/intercepts and warranty returns.
§ Convert the results of end user feedback into established quality standards.
§ Work with the Manufacturing Process Engineer to ensure that the action elements of the Quality Management System are effectively implemented
§ Develop and manage the consumer testing and feedback program for new products during their development stage
§ Work with user groups and retail partners, buyers and end-users to refine concepts and prototypes. Methods may include interviews, surveys, user intercepts, and focus groups.
§ Produce & maintain instruction sheets required for products and coordinate translations.
§ Develop the marketing brief and implementation for packaging and promotional materials design, including website and instructional video.
§ Provide input to sales and marketing and PR in developing and implementing a plan for the effective launch of new products, including trade show events, press releases, dealer communications, etc.
