The Position: Merchandise Director

MERCHANDISE DIRECTOR

Responsibilities:

 The Merchandise Director reports to the Executive VP, Merchandising & Marketing and ensures broad categories of merchandise are delivered to Eastern Mountain Sports customers that are appropriately aligned with business goals, trends and opportunities. Key to this role is the ability to lead the merchandise teams and maximize industry relationships.

 

In addition:

·         Set strategy and goals that support Company Vision for: Categorical Businesses and Industry relationships

·         Communicate strategy, issues and opportunities

·         Collaborate with Company Directors, specifically the Marketing Director and the Senior Director, Planning and Allocation

·         Assist in the development and management of Divisional Budgets

·         Remove performance obstacles for teams and individuals

·         Build and maintain vendor relationships, develop new initiatives to improve current relationships

·         Provide customer feedback and knowledge to teams

·         Train and develop Product Managers & Assistant Product Managers

·         Coordinate weekly promo process

 

What you need to be successful in this position:

·         Demonstrate line merchandising skills; create compelling and cohesive product assortments.

·         Understand product function, construction and aesthetics. 

·         Understand retail merchandising, specifically inventory planning, allocation/distribution and store/brand merchandising. 

·         Ability to interpret company goals into merchandising directions.

·         Build and maintain lasting relationships between teams, team members, vendors, store associates and others.

·         Proficient use of Microsoft Office, Excel and Word

·         Previous experience directing the development/ management of product categories for retail, wholesale or catalog merchandise lines. 

·         Must be a MNTN Lifer (actively participate in at least 2-3 of the outdoor sports EMS caters to).

·         Ability to travel internationally
